FUN  EVENT

1)    GEC Counter Strike

I’m sure looking at the name you might be thinking this is just another counter strike competition. But it’s not what you’re thinking. At Torque, MESA brings to you counter strike in real life, where instead of bots, you will be running around the map along with your team.

It will be played on similar basis as Counter-strike but with bullets and bombs replaced by water balloons. So get ready to get wet..!!! Participants are requested to carry additional clothing.

Mission:

2 teams                 – 5 members
Terrorist                – Keep the explosives in your possession
Counter Terrorist – Retrieve the explosives bag

The Game:

CT & T teams to be decided on toss. Initially both teams will be given 10 balloons each. While the game is going on additional balloons if required will be charged at 2 balloons/Rs5
Time limit – 5 min.

Rules:

1)      Whichever team has the explosives bag at the end of the play is declared the winner.

2)      If all the members of a team are eliminated before the end of play then the other team wins.

3)      A person is eliminated (dead) if he/she is hit by a water balloon and gets wet.

4)      Whoever has the explosives bag has to roam around with it, he/she can pass it to another person of the team but has to hand it over and cannot throw it. In this case the next person has to roam around with it.

5)      In case the person carrying the bag is eliminated, he/she should immediately drop the bag on the ground and leave the arena.

6)      Organisers’ decision will be final and binding.

Only one re-entry is allowed : Rs 20/-

2)  LOGORYO

Description

It is Goa’s ancestral game included in TORQUE’11.

LOGORYO is a team event in which each team has to defeat the opposing team for victory. Many of us might have played this game in our childhood, and this event will ensure that we relieve those golden days and it turns out to be one of the most fun-filled events.

How to play

Two teams will play at a time. Each team will have four members. Each player of the team will get one chances in a set to hit the tower of tiles. The first round in total will be consisting of overall three sets. The team which wins two out of three sets will be declared as the winner.

§         One player of the team has to hit the tower of the tiles.

§         If he misses the tower and the bowl is caught by the player of the other team on one bounce than the first team loses the set.

§         If the player of the first team hits the tower and if the ball is caught directly by the members of the other team without any bounce than the first team loses the set.

§         If the player of the first team hits the tower and if it bounces, than the players of the other team has to collect the ball and throw it on players of the first team, while the members of the first team should arrange the tower of the tiles.

§         If the ball hits the players of the first team before they are able to arrange the tower of the tiles than the first team loses the set.

§         If the ball hits the players of the first team after they arrange the tower of the tiles than the other team loses the set.

§         Whichever team wins two sets out of three wins the round. The loosing team in the first round is knocked out of the competition.

Organizer decision is final in all the cases.

3)  FLASH GAMES

Description

Flash games will be spot events going on along-side the main events on site and consist of two games, Bug-on-wire & Penguin shootout. Both the games will be held along with the main events of robowar and roborace on the happenings ground. There will be three centres on the happenings ground where the interested people can register, and play. The winners will get prizes worth Rs. 250/- for each game.

Winner for Bug-on-wire will be decided depending upon the time for which the player can keep his bug on the wire. The player who keeps for maximum time will win. Sounds simple enough eh ???? but it’s not..!!! Our experts have managed just 1 and a half minute max..!!!! So can you beat that ??

Most of you are ace shooters with the help of a mouse. But can u do it on a laptop track pad??? Not so easy nah?? So a simple game to test if you got what it takes.
Winner for Penguin shootout will be decided based on the score which depends on the number of penguin shot down. The player having the highest score wins.

3)  SLOW BIKING:

Slow and steady definitely wins the race here.
Ride your bike the slowest, without crossing your lane and touching your feet to the ground.
The bike that finishes last or the one left after all others are eliminated wins.
The choice of bike is left to the participants. Both geared and non-geared bikes are allowed.

4)  GEC’S MINUTE TO WIN IT:

Adapted from the popular TV show, Gec’s Minute to Win It, will have challenges using household items and 60 seconds to complete them.

5)  DARTS

Darts is a fun social game that has been around a very long time. Its enduring popularity reveals it to be a sport that combines talent, skill and even a bit of luck.

Show us at Torque’ 11 how steady your hands are.

Rules of scoring will be told on the spot.
It’s a spot event.

Entry fee: Rs 10/-

6)  PENALTY SHOOTOUT:

Test your football kicking skills. Kick the ball into the goal directly or on one bounce. But of course the goal is not going to the standard size.
Spot event.
All rules and scoring will be informed on the spot.

7)  Auction Ville:

Virtual bidding. Get your thinking cap on and buy wisely.

Technical Event Description

ROBO WAR

Description

Robowar is a sport which is quite similar to wrestling; only with robots. It is the war between two robots. Only difference is that the robots in robowar may use weapons such as axes, hammers, spinning weapons and flippers, just to name a few.

 Hence you need to design a robot, which is either a wireless remote controlled vehicle or a wire controlled vehicle powered by electric motors which is capable of defeating the opponent robot by destroying, pushing or throwing the robot out of the arena.

Problem statement

Each participating team must design a (manual controlled / autonomous) combat robot with a sole mission of annihilating the opponent's robot.

Track Specifications:-

The track will be made out of a plywood sheet mounted on a bridge prepared by using Iron/Wooden bars (columns). The track will be flat. The track will have no other obstacles rather than two holes of 50cm X 50cm. The arena will be as shown in the figure with the circular part having diameter of around 4 meters and 60 cm wide oppositely placed entry platforms.

Rules:-

1.      The robot specifications are as follow:-

       Length = 40cm max.

       Width  = 40cm max

       Height = 40 cm max.

2.      Weight max=7kg.

3.      Motor used should not exceed 15v dc rating.

4.      A max of 24v between any 2 points on the robot can be used.

5.      Wire length should be 4mts preferred.

6.      230v ac power supply will be provided.

7.      The participant’s along with their robot will be disqualified, if any damage to the arena is caused.

8.      If any participant is using wireless remote control then mismatching of frequency with other remote control will not be the responsibility of the organizer

9.      Readymade or ready to assemble robots are not allowed, however students can make use of parts or components such as readymade gears, pulleys, belts, etc.

10.  Judges and the organizers’ decision will be final.

11.   The first round of the competition will be one to one or knock out in which out of two only one will go to the second round.

12.  Weapons can be used in the first round.

13.  Fire is allowed provided it does not come in contact with the arena.

14.  Cutting the wires of the opponent robot is allowed.

15.  Rules for the second round are the same. Only the number of competing bots at a time for second round will be disclosed on the spot.

Machine Specifications:-

1.      Robotic vehicle dimensions: 40cm x 40cm x 40cm max.

2.      Prototype of vehicle should be solely prepared by the participants however use of readymade wheels & geared motor is allowed.

3.      The machine must not be made from readymade kits like Lego or Meccano sets or any other kits available in the market.

4.      Parts such as Gears, pulleys & belts, springs, motors and servos, batteries and wheels and suspension assemblies can be used, directly purchased from the market.

5.      Note that the decision of the judges will be final and binding; any team found breaking the rules mentioned above, will be disqualified.

6.      The vehicle is allowed to have a reverse mechanism. However the vehicle must run on the track itself and must not damage any part of the track.

Controls:-

1.      The vehicle may be controlled either by a wireless or by a wired Remote control.

2.      Remote controls can be used from various model cars or toys or even those purchased from the market.

3.      For wired control robots the length of the wire should be sufficiently long (4m), so as to control the vehicle easily from a single point.

Power Supply:-

1) The machine can use an externally placed or on-board electric supply.

2) Voltage at any point on the machine must be lower than 24V at any time during the game.

3) The organizers will provide a standard 230V/50Hz AC power supply. Any Extension

Chords, Adapters, etc will have to be arranged by the participants.

Judging Criteria:-

1.      Criteria for judging the winner and score will be provided on the spot, such as penalties and bonus points.

2.      The decisions of the judges will be final and binding.

Team Specifications:-

1.      A Team may consist of a maximum of 4 members.

2.      Students from different institutes and streams of engineering are allowed.

3.      The students will have to carry a valid Identity Card of their respective institutions.

Written description about Vehicle working:-

A written abstract must be prepared and sent keeping the following in mind:
Basic empty Chassis design must be provided and pictures (if possible) of the built chassis must be sent.
Specifications of all other components like motors, suspensions, etc. must be provided (Optional).
Any other mechanisms used which might provide your vehicle with an advantage must also be mentioned in the abstract and an explanation of the same must also be given.
All these needs to be sent via e-mail either as PDF files or MS Word Document to the e-mail address: mechtorque11@gmail.com

Technical Event Description

ROBO RACE

Problem Statement:-

The name might be misleading; this is definitely not just a speed quest but a need for agility as well, just as in real rallies. The main objective is to surpass all the obstacles present on the course in the least possible time.

Hence you need to design a wheeled vehicle, which is either a wireless remote controlled vehicle or a wire controlled vehicle powered by electric motors to complete the track in the least possible time. This is a time trial event and only one vehicle will be on the track at a time.

Track Specifications:-

The track will be made out of a plywood sheet mounted on a bridge prepared by using Iron/Wooden bars (columns). The maximum height of the track will be 20 cm on a incline of around 20° slope, whereas it will start from the ground level. The track will have certain obstacles. Any changes could be made in the track at the time of event and the organizers hold all the rights for that.

Track for round 1:

The track consists of two 3 meter long straight edges of an oval track which are 50 cm wide. The end points of the straight edges are joined by two arcs which form the track having outer radius of 1.25m and inner radius of 0.75m.

Track for round 2:

This is the same track as for the previous round with some obstructions placed on it.

The obstruction consists of a hole of 20cm X 100cm. An incline with height of 20cm and a hole of length 10cm ahead of it and an incline of height 10cm which moves up and down as shown. Along with there are some more obstruction as shown.

Rules:-

11.  The qualified vehicles will compete in second round. In second round the judging criteria will be based on the clearing of the obstacles and the time for finishing the track. Exact criteria and scoring will be disclosed on the day of the competition.

We the students MESA council cordially invites you all for TORQUE 11.
The event is scheduled to be held in march. It is a 2 day event. The events are right from technical to the craziest things from the 1st day which is also known as "Techday" and followed by "Funday" where everyone can participate and dominate the rest.
